You Don't Have to Know How to Pose | Caden's Seward High School Senior Session

One of the first things I hear from senior guys before a session is, "I've never done this before."

The good news? You don't have to.

My job isn't just taking photos - it's helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera so your personality can shine through naturally.

Caden's senior session was the perfect example of that.

As a senior at Seward High School, Caden wanted a variety of images that reflected both his style and the places that mean the most to him. We started in downtown Seward before heading to one of my favorite locations of the evening - his grandparents' farm.

There’s something special about photographing seniors in places that hold personal meaning. While downtown Seward provided a classic backdrop with plenty of texture and character, his grandparents' farm added something you simply can't recreate anywhere else. It wasn't just another location - it was part of his story.

Throughout the session, Caden wore four different outfits, including a sharp suit and three casual looks. The variety gave his gallery a polished, timeless feel while also capturing the relaxed side of his personality.

One of my favorite moments from the evening came during what should have been one of the easiest poses.

You know the one… weight on your back leg, hands in your pockets.

For some reason, it just wasn't clicking! We both laughed as we worked through it, and honestly, that's one of the reasons I enjoyed photographing Caden so much. He never got frustrated or self-conscious. He trusted the process, kept a great attitude, and before long everything started to feel natural.

The result?

A gallery full of confident, authentic images that look effortless - even if we shared a few laughs getting there.

That's one of the biggest misconceptions about senior photography. People often think they need to know exactly how to pose or have experience in front of a camera. The truth is, almost no one does.

My goal is to guide you through every step, making small adjustments along the way until the poses feel comfortable and natural. Before you know it, you're no longer thinking about where your hands belong - you're simply enjoying the experience.

Looking back at Caden's session, I think that's exactly what these photos capture: confidence, authenticity, and an exciting season of life that's just beginning.
